The Barber
When a girl goes on a first date. There are three things she is wary of. Will the guy be short? Will the guy be cool? Will the guy try to make a move, and if he does, will she want him to?
Dating is a sport.
You win some, you lose some.
Here's a dating tale, you decide:
Jamie was waiting for her date. She was excited to meet the guy. They texted for almost a week, he was engaging and seemed like he'd be fun to hang out with.
She was standing outside waiting for him to approach. She stood there in her boot heals, looking as adorable as she could. She spotted him and she was hopeful.
As she walked toward him, she was thinking, "Oh no. Is it possible? This isn't my date is it?"
And as they walked towards each other she knew she was most definitely screwed. The disappointment written all over her face. She was taller than him, but even without her heals she'd be taller. And he was heavier. His online photos must have been old, when he actually went to the gym.
Geez, Jamie thought. Well, maybe he has an outstanding personality.
As she jumped into his pick up truck, littered with hunting gear and camo seat covers, she realized it was going to be a long night.
He decided to make a long side trip, on the way to their date destination, to his barber shop. He wanted to make sure Jamie knew he owned it and it was an ALL cash business.
What The Barber didn't know was that Jamie didn't care for superficial things. She cared about who the person was on the inside. Their essence, if they were genuine and how comfortable they were in their own skin.
Money was low on her list of priorities when dating.
As the date went on, listening to her friend's band play, she realized this date was most definitely not going to be able to redeem himself.
He talk a lot about himself, that he was the catch of his town and about his stuff and his business. Jamie's friends showed up to also watch the band and The Barber could hardly make conversation with them.
The shortness aspect was bad, but the rest just tanked the entire date.
You win some, but most often you lose some. This was a night Jamie was not going to win.
When he dropped her home, she gave him a pity kiss. Not because she felt she had to, but maybe because it was the nice thing to do.
She went home, snuggled into her bed, and was grateful for the night to be over.
She learned a few valuable lessons that evening:
Moral:
Always ask for their height, always talk on the phone, and always ask for a current photo.
It will save you from a lose every time.
